We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.4. Who we share it with
We use these providers to run The Hatter. They process your information on our behalf, or in the case of Stripe, for payments: Circle.so (our community platform), Stripe (payments), Google (Google Forms, which hold waitlist and survey responses), and Circle's Email Hub (onboarding and newsletter emails). If you subscribe to our newsletter on Substack, Substack handles that subscription under its own privacy policy. Partners: if you claim a partner's offer, we share confirmation of that and the details needed to do it with that partner, with your agreement. The partner then uses your details under its own privacy policy, and is asked to use them only to provide its service and to confirm referrals to us. Others: we may share information with our professional advisers, and with regulators or law enforcement where the law requires. If our business is ever sold or transferred, your information may pass to the new owner, who must use it as set out in this policy. Who has access: within The Hatter, only Sylvia Brendel, our founder, can access your information. We do not sell your information.5. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our providers are based outside the UK or may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards that UK law accepts, such as an adequacy arrangement, the UK international data transfer agreement or the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses.6. How long we keep it
Members: for as long as you are a member and for 12 months after you cancel. Financial records: for 6 years, as tax law requires. Applicants we decline: we delete their information within 6 months. Waitlist and survey responses: for up to 12 months, or until we have made our decision on the founding cohort if that is sooner. Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. We then delete or anonymise the information. If you ask us to delete it earlier, we will unless we are required to keep it.7. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or move it to another service. You can also object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.8. Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site. We do not currently use any analytics or tracking tools, so no cookie banner or consent is needed. If this changes in future, we will ask for your consent before using any cookies that are not strictly necessary, and will update this clause with a table of those cookies.9. Age and security
The Hatter is for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service is completely secure. If a breach affects your rights, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires.10. Changes to this policy
